Using Skype

I use Skype for coaching and readings because Skype is easy to download and install on both PCs and MACs, FREE to use, and allows use to connect with chat, voice chat, and video conferencing.

Here’s some helpful advice and links for you to use:

With Skype’s free software – by the way, it works seamlessly with your internet connection – you can chat away with free Skype-to-Skype calls and never worry about cost, time or distance. Share the love and get your friends to download Skype so you can talk, instant message (IM) or make video calls for nothing. You can also make calls to phones and mobiles at home and abroad at great rates too.

It’s free to call people on video.

Make sure you’ve got a webcam and check:
- it’s plugged into your computer
- you’ve installed the software that came with it
- it’s switched on.

In your Contact list, find the person you want to talk to.
Click on them.

In the main window, click the green Video call button.

Video Call Button

Smile, wave, say hello!

Smile!

Useful things you can do on a video call:

  • Resize the screen – click and drag the corner of the video screen to make it bigger or smaller.
  • Move it around – click and drag the video of yourself around your screen.
  • IM at the same time – click the Show messages link at the top of the video to instant message while you’re on the call.

Requirements:

In addition to your Windows-based PC or MAC OS machine youwill need the following to make full use of Skype’s excellent features:

  • Internet connection (broadband is best, GPRS is not supported for voice calls, and results may vary on a satellite connection).
  • Speakers and microphone – built-in or separate.
  • For voice and video calls we recommend a computer with at least a 1GHz processor, 256 MB RAM and of course a webcam.
  • For High Quality Video calls you will need a high quality video webcam and software, a dual-core processor computer and a fast broadband connection (384 kbps).
