Just back from our
Annual "Archetypes in Paradise" Retreat in Hawaii, I
am writing this review of what happened to clue you
into what we do there and to spark your interest in
coming next spring, 2007. In some way for everyone,
it's always a "hero's journey." By that I mean we
are all stretched in a gentle and adventurous way.
For some, just going into the purifying natural
steam vents (which is sort of like a sweat lodge) is
a challenge. For others, getting past the first wave
at the black sand beach is an initiation into the
great, blue pacific ocean. In the mornings, what we
call "archetypal energetics," which means embracing
a Voyager Card you select and then to explore its
sound, breath, movement and emotion is not so easy,
even though it's fun, energizing, and leads to
extraordinary "kinesthetic wisdom" and "movement
intuition." Just traveling the bumping rolling,
legendary red road on the puna coast of the big
island of hawaii is an adventure. And we do
throughout the week, the Hero's Journey Reading,
each Card for the day becoming part of our personal
Story/Reading. The Cards map out the journey and
give us allies and strengths to utilize our inner
"demons." The purpose of the week is to be
"regenerating," and by that I mean not only
revitalized by the "ageless vitality" processes used
by Wowza, my partner and author of Primal
Energetics, (which is just the most amazing and
revolutionary way of staying in shape in body and
soul), but to reclaim your life purpose and passion
and play! |
Stephanie, one of our
participants, writes of her finding "new land,"
sparked by planting of a baby palm tree on the
newest land on the planet made by the red hot lava
rivers coming down the pali from pele, goddess of
fire and volcano.

awe-inspiring, the perfect setting for deepening
my awareness of myself and my relationship with
the archetypes, and for inspiration to, like
Pele, create "new land" in my life." —

So, the Hero's
Journey is a growth path, as luscious and green as
the wild, wild jungle flora of the Hilo side of the
island. The Journey is about sweet medicine, nothing
that difficult and nothing than anyone has to do.

 "I
was in Hawaii on my 36th Birthday. I was at Kalani
Oceanside retreat. I was there for the Voyager Tarot
retreat. I dig tarot, if you don't already know. So
we were having this party and we were drinking wine
and we all had sarongs on. it was cool and these
girls were there, real pretty girls, and they was
all dancing around and stuff and chanting and
playing drums and playing these little shaker
instruments, shaker like you shake them and they
make a noise, that's what I mean, and they was all
dancing then I got in the middle of them all and
then they was rubbing my shoulders and arms and
whispering stuff in my ears and brushing their hair
all over me while chanting and stuff and it got more
and more intense then one of them started singing a
bunch of words i ain't never heard before while the
others danced.
Oh how they danced
and writhed and chanted and played their shaker
instruments then the one who was singing asked me
what my birthday wish was and I told her then she
made these motions with her hands while saying some
kind of incantation and then she told me my wish
would come true. That was a cool birthday party.
Maybe it was a Wiccan ceremony, I'm not sure but
whatever it was, I hope they are there when I turn
37 because they were cool!"

What a hero I say!
One of the best
features of our week in Hawai'i is the variety and
diversity of what we do, go, and experience...it's a
"magical blend," perhaps best described by one of
our voyagers, Spencer Humm. |
"It was such a blast
meeting and spending time with you and all the other
"voyagers". I can't imagine a
more pleasant place than Hawaii and Kalani to
experience deep relaxation of mind, body and spirit
while also undergoing exciting personal
transformation. Your respect and attention to each
participant and their personal growth was
outstanding and so much more committed than any
other seminar I have ever attended. From the time
that I arrived and began our adventure into the
jungles of Hawaii, driving along in the rental car
with you and Wowza, steeped in the wonder of the
beautiful island, to the time we left, I can
honestly say I have changed in a very deep way.
The cards and your
wonderful guidance have made me aware that each day,
and every moment is an opportunity to stretch my
neurology and physiology in new directions,
exploring and playing in new, unfamiliar ways. Many
books and workshops do a wonderful job of describing
this state, but at your retreat, we got to live it
every day.
"Archetypes in
Paradise" was like a giant massage for the mind body
and Spirit. Upon our return home, I find I have
easier access to a sense of fun and adventure in my
life and I can't wait to look at my card-a-day each
morning so I can see how far I can stretch myself
that day. I could go on about the resort and all the
secret places you shared with us but I'll leave that
to someone else. I'll just say how much fun it was
to see myself at the beginning, so focused and
intense, dressed in my blue jeans and button-down
shirt and experience the transformation into a
relaxed, content, playful, flip-flop and aloha shirt
wearing, beach yogi.
Thanks so much for
making this experience available to everyone. I
can't wait to see what happens next year!"

The modern day hero in
each of us wants a significant breakthrough in life
and to enjoy the journey! Mmmmm... breaking the
sound barrier...the joy of breaking out...

great experience! Not just the sites and sounds
and atmosphere of the big island, but the whole
Tarot/Primal Energetics Experience!!!! Awsome!!!
I arrived feeling Grrrrr-rrrrrr from all the
gunk and pressure of life in Northern Virginia,
but I left feeling
Ahhhhhhh-Mmmmmmmm-Ohhhhhh!!!!!!!!!! Wow!!!! I
may be back in the land of Grrrrrrrrr-rrrrrrrrr
(for now) but I know how to tap into the
Ahhhhhhh- Mmmmmmmm-Ohhhhhh!!!!!!!!!! Wow!!!!
when I need it. Thank you James and Wowza!!!
